 Crisis Averted
« Thread Started on Nov 8, 2009, 3:08am »

Yesterday after I got up from my afternoon slumber I ventured out into the garage. My attention immediately shot over to the deep freeze, where I instantly noticed the power lights were not on at the bottom of the unit! I opened her up and thank God everything was still rock hard froze. I'm not sure why but one of my garage GFI outlets popped and it took out the freezer power.

That would have SUCKED!!! It's crammed with deer meat, critters, Jimmy Hoffa, the cure for H1N1, and other things that need to remain froze! I'm always pretty good about glancing down to make sure it's on...guess that diligence paid off!

Whew is right!!!!!!! been there before, but didn't notice it in time, what a mess!!!

FWIW its recommended to NOT plug refridge's or freezers in GFCI protected recepticals. Sometimes the little surge when the compressors kick on is enough to "pop" the GFCI's. I can't tell you how many time I had homeowners complain about their garage refridgerators going out when it was really only the GFCI.....

Been there done that and the freezer still smells like rotten meat. Found it in the middle of the summer after the cat fork truck cut the plug cord.

Yep been there done that too... ::) ::) ::)

Dead of summer... Freezer full of "farm raised" training birds... Disassembled the whole freezer to try to get the stink out of the insulation panels... That exercise only proved to make the whole mess lighter to carry to the dumpster... New freezer was put on a dedicated circuit...

Been there done that a month ago. Almost lost my Montana antelope meat and a little bit of venison from last year. The beer got warm too!

Been there, we were leaving for a week long vacation, opened the freezer to get the ice I had put in two days before, and everything was thawing. It was full and I lost everything. I don't want to even try and put a $ value on it. Thankfully, my sister cleaned it all out before it started to stink.
